At an altitude of 2000 meters and 34 km beyond Dehradun, Mussoorie has been a popular hill station since it was 'discovered' in 1823 by Captain Young. This erstwhile aristocratic resort is now a popular hill station and promises a variety of entertainment throughout the year. Landour retains much of the old-world charm of the place.
A powerful telescope is installed at children's lodge, the view of the snow from this spot is exhilarating. Municipal Garden a picnic spot with a beautiful garden and an artifical mini lake with boating facilities. Just 4 km by road or a pony ride and 2 km on foot on the mountain trail. Camel's back road a superb rock formation, with a life-like resemblance to a sitting camel, can be seen from this spot. Enjoy a ropeway ride to Gun hill, the second highest peak of Mussoorie (2122 mtrs). The thrill of the ride is memorable. Gun Hill offers a beautiful view of the Himalayan ranges.
The Mall, the nerve - centre of Mussourie, faces Dehradun, and distant snowclad peaks can be spotted from the summit of Gun Hill, 2142 m above sea level. A 400 m ' Ropeway' cable - car ride links Gun Hill with the Mall. Another tourist attraction is the Childers Lodge, the highest vantage point in the vicinity, 5 km east of the Mall. Lal Tibba, is the highest point in Mussourie at 2,438 m, five km from the centre of the town. 15 kms from Mussourie, along the Chakrata road are the famous Kempty Falls, which are a popular tourist site. The stretch of land from the Falls to the Yamuna gorge, which houses gorals (mountain goats), a few leopards, and a teeming avianfauna population, is being called a sanctuary.

Air: The nearest Airport to Mussoorie is 60-kms away from the place. The airport is called Jollygrant Airport but there are no regular flights to this place.
Rail: Mussoorie does not have a direct rail link. Dehradun Railway station serves for Mussoorie too. This station is linked which Superfast trains to other major cities in country.
Road: From Dehradun one can hire a taxi or take a bus to Mussoorie. The queen of hill stations is well connected with roads with other major cities. There are regular bus services from various metros and other tourist destinations in Uttaranchal as well as from out side the state. Bus services are provided by State transports. There are conducted tours to Mussoorie too.
