Q. Is there any restriction on the frequency of withdrawals from a savings bank account?
Not more than one withdrawal is allowed in a single day from a savings bank account.

Q. Are there any other practical difficulties I may face while withdrawing money from a savings bank account?
In case you are planning to withdraw a large amount from your savings bank account, you are required to inform the post-master a few days in advance; this is especially true of smaller post offices in rural and semi-rural areas.

Q. What is the procedure for getting my savings bank pass-book updated for interest earned and confirmation of balance?
The depositor is required to present his passbook as soon as possible after March 31st, to the post office where his account is maintained, for credit of interest earned and confirmation of balance. If this is not done within 3 months of March 31st, the balance standing in the books of account of the post office shall be taken as final.

Q. I had opened an individual savings bank account, is it possible to get this account converted to a joint account? If yes, what is the procedure to be followed?
Yes, it is possible to get your individual account converted to a joint account, and vice versa. An application Form to this purpose is available with the post-master; the Form needs to be signed by both account-holders and submitted to the post-master.
