Panchgani

                  Panchgani (Five Hills) is 19km east of Mahabaleshwar and just 38m lower. It's also a popular hill station, splendidly located, but overshadowed by its better-known neighbour.  It's famous today for its berry farms and orchards.

                       As in Mahabaleshwar, there's a variety of hotels.  Cheaper places include the Prospect Hotel (ph. 40263), Hotel Western (ph. 40321) and The Malas Guest House (ph. 40321). The most expensive is the Aman Hotel (ph.40211) with rooms from Rs 750/1000 is the low/high season.  The Hotel Five Hills (ph. 40301) has rooms for Rs 500/700 and its Silver Oaks Restaurant is reasonably priced and serves excellent food.
