Classic - Dance Of Love’ is a clear indication that there is no place in Bollywood for directors who belong to the old school of thought. The producer has given a few hits in different genres; adventure, musical, and revenge dramas. This film is his foray into the porn territory. If he thought mere skin show would make his film work then he is in for a surprise.

In fact, this film also takes the viewers for a ride. The skin show in the promos is there in the film but is interlaced with goody goody talks on true love. Surely the audience had not bargained for this while entering the theatres. Besides, this skin show comes at a time when the audience has had more than their fill of flesh and sex in films.

The story. Dr. Ram Gopal Acharya (Mithun Chakraborty, looking haggard in some sequences and virile in the others while his wig and makeup are both on) preaches on how men should never succumb to temptation with women who seduce men for money and ultimately destroy them.

Doli (a flabby Meghna Naidu) is a dancer but is mistaken by all to be a whore. Not surprising, considering the skimpy outfits that she wear throughout the film. She meets Suraj (Vikas Bhardwaj), a London-based tycoon’s son, who is in India on an assignment. The two fall in love and dream of a happy future. Obviously this makes Suraj’s father (a sozzled looking Navin Nischol) livid as he thinks of Doli as a whore. This is despite Suraj’s constant reminders to him that she is a dancer. He requests his friend, Acharya, to put an end to his son’s romance.

Acharya insults Doli and calls her a prostitute who is trying to trap Suraj only for his money. Post interval, Doli joins Acharya’s ashram in a bid to expose his lusty advances towards his disciples.

The first half of the film is focused on the love affair, with generous skin show and the song-dance routines. Sadly, the romance leaves the audience unmoved. The second half of the film focuses on Mithun and Meghna with the latter trying to seduce him. Mithun even dances to Bappi Lahiri’s music. If that is enough to lure Mithunda fans then go ahead and watch it.

Now for the performances. Mithun Chakraborty is okay. Meghna Naidu needs to work on herself in all areas. Be it her acting, her expressions, her dialogue delivery; it is faulty. She also needs to shed oodles of weight if she intends to continue with her skin flicks. She is too jiggly wiggly on screen and is an eye sore. Himani Shivpuri is okay but springs a rude surprise on the audience in her hot item number. On the whole, the film looks like another flop show.
